DFY Spring Camp - Measuring Impact.

We have had a brilliant two weeks with over 100 children attending our Spring camp which we ran from Salusbury School in Brent. Through our partnership with HAF the Brent healthy activity and food programme AND through our own fundraising we were able to give 50% of our spaces completely FREE to disadvantaged children in the local area. The free spaces were allocated to children in receipt of free school meals and children on the at risk register, providing them with a safe, fun, active place to be over the Spring holidays.

Access to sports can provide many benefits for disadvantaged children - promoting physical health, improved mental wellbeing, enhancing social skills, and boosting self-confidence. Sports can also provide a platform for children to develop teamwork and leadership skills. One of our most popular activities this camp was our Spring challenge where children were divided into teams and given various challenges to complete - they had a blast and it was so lovely to see the friendships springing up amongst them all. Several children rebooked day after day as they were having so much fun with new friends. We love the opportunity camp provides for children to improve their social skills and engage with their peers.

We are so pleased at DFY that thanks to our partnership with the wonderful Salusbury Primary School we are able to offer children a safe outdoor spaces to engage in physical activity over the holidays. Participating in sports can provide a way for these children to get active, improve their physical fitness, and develop a healthy lifestyle and well as having a positive impact on mental health and well-being. We are excited to be involved in some of the training and learning that HAF is about to start offering in this field so that we can really help any children struggling with their mental heath at our future camps.
